Day 13: I'm thankful for my planner.
I listed my planner as one of the things I would grab if my house was on fire in Think Fast.
Today, I would have completely forgotten about work had it not been for my planner. {I'm really glad I wrote that down, or else I would have just driven home after school.} My planner has saved my life many times (that's a metaphor).
I am an obsessive planner. Obsessive is a scary word that people don't like to use. I think it's a good thing in this sense, though. I love writing things down, making lists, and knowing what I'm going to do each day. With school and work and life just happening all the time, it's really pretty beneficial.
Why?! Why do I always have a plan?
Well, I have found that knowing what needs to get done makes it a lot easier to find time to do other fun things (things that don't require a plan). I don't get stressed out as much because it's super easy to see what all I need to do. [Sometimes, things get kind of crazy in my head. You know that feeling you get when you have a million things to do and you don't know how you're ever going to be able to do them all? Yeah. I don't like that. So, I write it all down and get it out of the way.]
Having a planner definitely helps relieve a lot of the stress in my life, but sometimes, my obsessive planning gets in the way. I actually get really flustered when plans change. It's not a major problem- like I don't have a meltdown and face plant on the floor screaming and kicking. It just causes momentary confusion and reconfiguration of my time to calculate how I'm going to finish everything that needs finishing (mathematical, huh?)
NOW, I don't literally plan everything. I mean, I know it sounds like that, but I am a semi-normal teenager. I am perfectly fine and capable with letting things happen and doing things at the last minute. I've just found that my life is a lot simpler when I write things down in my planner.
I'm weird. It's already been established.
my advice for people today: write things down and let them go.
I also just really adore my Lilly Pulitzer planner. {It has stickers. stickers.}
I don't know what I'm doing. But, I think it'll be okay. This a collection of things in my life.

Think Fast
What items would you get if your house was on fire?
Here are the rules: You can only grab 3 things. No pets or people (they can get out on their own).I thought about it for a while. {obviously, if my house was actually on fire, I would have to make a quicker decision}
- My planner. I have to be honest. I love my Lilly Pulitzer planner (stereotypical white girl, I know). I adore being organized and writing things down. It's really a good stress reliever, too. I always have everything I need to do written out, so I don't feel overwhelmed or forget to do anything.
- My Bible. It's my reminder that everything always turns out fine because God has a purpose for everything. The notes I've written in my Bible are my interpretation of things, but also reminders of God's love for me NO MATTER WHAT.I haven't been going to church lately, but I believe that's fine. I'm still able to worship and maintain my relationship with God without being surrounded by 200 other people. [religion- a good blog topic coming up]
- My grandmother's bracelet. My grandparents started dating when they were 14. That's crazy. They would have been married for 50 years this year. My grandfather gave my grandmother a charm bracelet when they started dating and continued adding charms to it throughout their life together. It has a charm from his senior trip to New York, a hope chest from when they got married, a cross, an anchor, and a heart to symbolized faith, hope, and a love, a church that has the Lord's Prayer written inside, and a bunch of other fabulous charms documenting their life. When my grandfather got sick a few years ago, they gave it to me. My dad added one charm to it for my 16th birthday. I never wear it. It's way too special.
Losing these things would be pretty devastating.
What would you grab? (feel free to leave comments)
