Day 9:I am thankful
for my job.
I work at the Kiddie Shoppe. It's kind of surprising how many times I've actually been asked if I sell cats. (the answer is no). The Kiddie Shoppe is a kids clothing store.
I got my job at The Kiddie Shoppe by a random stroke of
luck. {I was getting a pedicure with my stepmom, Priscilla, and she said
"why don't you go in there and see if they have any jobs?". So, I did
and look what happened.} I love it.
We sell a lot of really adorable, funky children's clothes ranging from newborn all the way up to size 14. We sell shoes, too. {I like all the things we sell. Occassionally, I can fit into these clothes... I wear a size 14 in dresses and a size 5 in children's shoes.}
I like kids a lot. They're adorable. They say the cutest stuff. Plus, watching some kids put shoes on for the first time is hilarious.
Sometimes, it's a little difficult. People don't always want to take my advice because I'm only 17, so obviously I don't have kids. People tend to assume I don't know what I'm talking about (but trust me, I do.)
I really like how flexible my job is with my school schedule. I don't get to work to much during the week because we're only open until 6 and I have school. Plus, I have lots of meetings and other things I have to do after school. My boss is super understanding of my schedule though.
My boss Lindsey Morgan is pretty great! She somehow manages to take care of three kids (with another on the way) and about a million other things in addition to running the store. She bought the store this year from my first boss, Rick McKnight, who is equally as fabulous. He knows everything. Both of them have been incredibly sweet and supportive of everything I do.
So, basically I have an amazing first job. It makes me happy.
