Typical White Girl Moment

Everything is perfect.

Tomorrow is the first day of October, which means it is officially acceptable to start celebrating the greatest time of the year. IT'S FALL!

Pretty much everything gets better in the fall, and I am just in an incredibly wonderful mood thinking about how fabulous everything is right now.

Like any good white girl, I am going to take this time to list why fall is actually the greatest.

  • The weather. It's the ideal temperature for outside activities. Not to mention the disgusting southern humidity goes away.
  • It's gorgeous! The leaves turn pretty colors and they get all crunchy so you can walk around smashing them.

  • Boots. I shamelessly wear my my cowgirl boots every single day.
  • Fooooooootball- all weekend long {WDE}
  • Halloween. You get to play dress up and eat candy. It doesn't get any better than that.

Last Halloween

  • It actually feels good to sit out by a bonfire and stuff s'mores in your face.
  • No more bikinis... You don't have shave every day and you can eat more to establish a layer of fat to keep you warm in the winter (logic.)
  • Thanksgiving: a break from school, time with family, andddd...
  • THE FOOD: pumpkin flavored things, hot chocolate, apple pie, tomato soup, turkey everyyyyything, delicious veggies, pecan pie, BBQ, candy corn and those little candy pumpkin things that no one ever knows the name of

  • Pumpkin carving and other fun fall crafts
  • It even smells good. There are all sorts of fall aromas in the air and some really lovely candles.
  • It's socially acceptable to curl up in a blanket and watch movies all day.
  • Fall just leads into the second greatest time of year {Christmas}
Just the idea of fall makes me extremely happy. I hope you all enjoy it and appreciate it as much as I do.
Spend time with your family!
Go outside!
Read a book!
Fall is the best. I am ecstatic.

My Understanding

John Pyle.

It's safe to say that most people in Columbus have heard of him, especially if you attend Columbus a High School (in case you haven't though, he's a photographer).

John is my mentor for senior project {at my school we have to do a project in which we learn a new skill and log 100 hours of working on it... there are a lot of requirements we won't get into tonight}.

I usually get pretty mixed reactions from people when I tell them who my mentor is. To be quite honest, person's reaction is generally based off of what "crowd" they are a part of.

There's a group of people who generally seem excited to know more about my project and how it is going when I say I work with him. These people have usually taken pictures with him, or their best friend took pictures with him, or their best friend's cousin's boyfriend was photographed by John. They know him, or they've heard about him from someone who knows him.

Then there's the group of people who assume things. The people who, when questioned, admit that they have never actually talked to him or asked anyone who personally knows him what he's like. This group of people tend to say things like "he only takes pictures of beautiful girls" or "he thinks he's better than everyone else". [these are actually things people have said to me about him- people who've never even met him]

*side note: he doesn't only take pictures of beautiful girls... he's good at what he does and knows how to make every girl (and guy) look good in a picture.

Obviously, these groups are just my general understanding of the way people perceive him. Not everyone falls into one of these groups.

After working with him for several months now, I have found that John is one of the nicest people. He wants to give everyone the best experience possible when they're photographed- to make them feel beautiful. And, he's made senior project pretty enjoyable for me. He's a helpful and patient teacher (I ask a lot of questions).

I've become genuinely interested in photography. It's really fantastic, and I love going on photoshoots! I've met some incredibly sweet people, and done some pretty interesting things to get the perfect shot. I'm sure I'll post about my senior project later.

FREE Coffee

Today was a good day.

It was a pretty long day though, so I'm just going to share a quick tip.

I went to Starbucks today with some friends. We played cards (a game called Mao). It was really quite lovely.

Now, whenever I go to Starbucks, I usually pay with a gift card (because I have about a million- that seems to be everyone's go to gift). I recently learned  about Starbuck's reward system .

I registered all of my gift cards on Starbucks.com, and I downloaded the Starbucks app.

With the app, I can pay with my gift cards without having to pull out my wallet; I just scan my phone. Each time you buy something with a registered gift card (either on your phone or by actually swiping it), you get a star, or a reward point. The points add up to different levels. Each level has different rewards associated with it.

Welcome Level: You need one star to get on this level. You get a free drink on your birthday with this (Birthday Cake Frappuccino: vanilla bean frappuccino with toffee nut and hazelnut syrup)

Green Level: five stars! free refills as long as you stay at the store (and you still get the free birthday drink)

Gold Level: you have earn 30 stars. On this level, you get free a free food item or drink every twelve stars, a personalized gold card, and special offers (you also still get the offers from the other two levels).

My recommendation to everyone who ever goes to Starbucks is to pay with a gift card. Buy yourself a card and start earning points to get free stuff

I love free stuff. You love free stuff. Everyyyyybody love free stuff (and Starbucks).

Comatose.

It's finally Friday (and I'm finally home).

I'll have to keep it short tonight because I ate Mexican food a few hours ago. If you've ever eaten Mexican food {and I hope you have}, then you will know that I am right at the stage where you curl up in a ball and sleep for 32 years.

But really, what do they put in the food? I can't stop eating it until I have absolutely nothing left to devour and I am uncomfortably full.

So, Mexican food is my weakness (especially cheese dip). And they just keep refilling your chips which is ridiculously tempting. I CANT STOP [insert I Can't Stop by Flux Pavilion here].

One other quick note: I watched a 30 minute video on eggs today... Like the kind that you buy at the grocery store that come from chickens. What is school?!

Now I have to go care for my Mexican food baby and fall into a food coma.

* I'm pretty sure I'm going to read this in the morning and realize this makes no sense. I'm keeping up with my blog though... It's the thought that counts.

Lizzie McGuire: An Investigation

Where is Hilary Duff?

Having three younger siblings, I spend a lot of time watching Disney Channel, and let me tell you, it just isn't as good as the old days. I miss That's So Raven, Even Stevens, and Phil of the Future. I especially miss Lizzie McGuire. That show was my life! I was convinced that I was LIZZIE MCGUIRE.

With all the publicity Miley has received the past few weeks and having to endure the horrendous, new Disney shows, I began wondering WHAT HAPPENED TO HILARY?! sooooooo I did some research.

Let's start with the stuff we already know {take a trip down memory lane}.

We all remember Hilary from her show Lizzie McGuire, where she was absolutely fabulous in all her awkwardness with Miranda and Gordo.

We also can't forget that time she finally kissed Gordo in Italy. WHYYYYYYY NOT TAKE A CRAZY CHANCE?!

Metamorphis, her greatest album ever (and the first concert I ever went to) came out. That was perfection.
{wake up, wake up on a Saturday night!}

Then, she was in other movies, like Cadet Kelly and Cheaper By The Dozen.

AHHHHH... Fourth grade memories. Now, we can get down to what she's been up to lately.

She got married in 2010 to a hockey player, Mike Comrie. Together they have a son named Luca Cruz Comrie. They are precious.

Hilary has guest starred on shows like Raising Hope and Two and a Half Men in the past few years. There's a rumor going around that she's recording another album [YAY]. She released several of her own clothing lines and even has her own perfume. THE WOMAN WROTE TWO BOOKS. Can she get any more perfect? Yes, she donated $250,000 to victims of Huricane Katrina along with being a devoted animal rights activist and supporter of about a million different children's organization (for which she gives motivational speeches).

So, Hilary Duff is one of the few Disney stars who turned alright. She is actually just a great person.

When I grow up, I'm going to be Hilary Duff.

The Title (explained)

Day 2!

"Who's that girl? It's Jess!"

Everyone should know the theme song of Zooey Deschanel's show, New Girl. It's basically the theme song of my life.

I love it (sadly they changed the time to 9.... way past my bedtime).

{Short rant: Why is Zooey Deschanel so perfect?! Look at her hair.}
Obviously, that's where I got the name for this beautiful blog. I think it's a pretty good title though because, well, who am I? Who am I to write a blog? WE'LL FIND OUT.

So far, I've made fun of myself a few times for making this blog and I've had several doubts about it. Maybe I'm crazy. I guess I'm sort of bored. I think it'll be good for me though! I need a way to write down the things I'm thinking, and the few people who continue to read this can keep up with my life and other random things.  I may end up writing about things that happened to me or things I cooked... or just whatever I come up with.

Stay tuned! Tomorrow won't be about writing a blog. It'll be something FUNNER

(Also, in case you didn't catch on, the "Jessie- The Girl" part in the URL is a reference to the song 'Jesse's Girl' since everyone loves singing that to me)

i have a blog.

I HAVE A BLOG

Why do I have a blog? That is a very good question. I guess there could be a lot of answers. I really just need to feel like I'm doing something, and I like to think this will keep entertained for a while. We'll see.

I don't really know what I'm going to write about on this blog yet. Let's just call it spontaneity. I'll try to keep up with it though. I'll just write down whatever I'm thinking.

Now that we can all see I have no idea what I'm doing, let's talk about me for a second (that seems like a thing people do when they get blogs). Don't worry. I won't talk for long.
  • I was born in February, National Chocolate Month.
  • I get really excited about things (birthdays, blogs, etc.)
  • I'm interested in a million different things, so I have no idea what I want to do. I'm beginning to realize it's okay not to have a plan (like this blog, for example).
  • I always have a plan. Refer to the bullet above this.
  • Sometimes I work out. Sometimes I eat my whole kitchen.
  • I like to think I'm talkative and fun. I can be pretty moody sometimes though (sorry, I'm a teenage girl).
  • I need to do my homework...
Alright, talking about myself is more difficult than I expected.

I HAVE A BLOG.

So, to my 2.5 readers, I hope you enjoy this. It may end up being a collection of my random thoughts. Maybe I'll actually write something worth reading. I'll probably even post a few pictures along the way. The goal is to just document my life (or something in it) at least once a day. My life gets kind of crazy sometimes though, but SPONTANEITY.

Wish me luck!
